Since I have discovered facebook I have found myself less interested in blogging. I was checking my favorite blogs on my bookmarks bar and came across my own. Thought it might be time to get back to blogging, because lets face it, this is as good as it gets when it comes to journaling for me. What has happened since May of 2011? A lot. I am remarried to a wonderful man and between the two of us we have five amazing children. Two of which (mine) are sobbing in the bathtub as we speak. Elle is crying because Diesel bit her, Diesel is crying because he knows he is in trouble. Sigh . . . Here are some photo updates . . .

I have kind of forgotten about my own blogging over the last year or so. I can't believe the last post was a year ago. Yikes! Well, the Twins have in fact turned four, and we are all loving it. They think it is so cool to be older, and are already counting down the days until they turn five. Apparently, that is a magical age for them. It makes sense, I mean they will get to go to kindergarten and get in the hot tub at Grandma and Grandpa's place in St. George. Just a few of the highlights from the last year . . .

We spent the entire week of Thanksgiving in St. George with Grandma and Grandpa Read. The first few days we had the pleasure of spending time with the May cousins who were also down South. The kids had a blast together! I have added just a snippet of photos from our little adventure . . . there will be more to come (maybe even before Spring).

We were in St. George last week, and I took zero pictures . . . but our backyard is what Diesel missed most. He kept saying, "Go home. Backyard!" Today we spent most of the day in the backyard playing in the water and sand, swinging, sliding, and playing hide and seek. Isn't summer great?!

We had such a great time visiting the zoo with Aunt Lisa and cousins, as Diesel calls them. Emerson and Stella are so great with the twins. They loved holding hands! Diesel's favorite part of the zoo was being with Aunt Lisa. He wanted to ride with her in her stroller and gave her extra special loves!

Diesel put a chicken nugget over his right eye last night in the car and said, "Mommy! Pirate!" I have been laughing ever since.

Elle asked her stuffed duck today if he was poopy, then proceeded to check his toosh for poops. She calmly explained to the duck, "Oh, poopy. I change you."

I cannot believe how fast they are growing. Elle has been pushing her bear around in a doll stroller and talking to her. Tucking her in and giving her kisses goodnight.

Diesel's favorite place to go right now is, "Shopping! Depot!" (Home Depot)

Tantrums have become part of our daily lives now, and I'm not a fan.

The Twins turned 2 on May 15! Where does the time go? They had a small party the day after their birthday. Friends and family joined us for a fun morning filled with cake, cupcakes, a bouncy house and gifts! Thanks for all of you who joined us and Happy Birthday to my babies!!

Lindsay and I took the kids to the mall yesterday. I wish I had taken my camera with me. Luckily Lindsay had her cell phone. The kids had a blast on the ride on toys. Before we made it to the toys, we spent a little time shopping. One of the cashiers asked Elle how old she is; her response was, "Guess!" The cashier just laughed, and I wondered if I had heard her right, so I asked her again how old she is and again she replied, "Guess!" I am still laughing about that one! Diesel is now saying, "Oh, Man!" He says it when things don't go his way and it is often accompanied by a full body flop onto a pillow or onto the couch.

The twins on a recent grocery shopping adventure. I paused to compare toothpaste prices, a little too close to the pantyhose. Lindsay was with us and by the time she pointed it out to me, through serious laughter, they had loaded the whole front of the car. Elle was pulling them off 2 and 3 at a time and handing them to her brother. Diesel, in turn would just giggle each time she dumped more in his lap. As you can see in the bottom picture, she didn't even care that they had been totally busted. She was still hustling to grab more before we intervened. I'm so glad I had my camera!

I am so looking forward to spring and summer. I have loaned my camera to my brother and so have no new photos to add. I thought I would add some summer splash to my Utah winter with this oldie but goodie! The kids are getting so big and talking more and more. Elle is repeating everything she hears, and Diesel has his favorite words. I am hoping to get a video up here of the two of them sighing . . . it is a riot!!! Oh, I nearly forgot to mention that the high chairs have been retired and we have moved to booster seats . . . hooray! Happy living!

These babes are so funny. They are best friends. They play so well together (most of the time). They keep tabs on each other. They chase each other and giggle, giggle, giggle. They fight over toys and hit each other, and they work as a team to get into things they aren't supposed to. I love these Twins!!!!

Whenever we get in our car to go somewhere, or pull into the driveway, or wake up in the morning, or even go to sleep at night Diesel is asking for "Papa!" His favorite person in the world. It is so fun to watch. When Papa comes in to visit he gets very excited, climbs up on Grandpa's lap and plays with his iphone or pen. He doesn't even need to be playing with Papa the whole time, just loves having him in the room! One of his favorite things to do with Papa is to ride in his truck with him when he plows the driveway . . . it is hilarious. They are two peas in a pod with their gadgets and such!!!

The Twins' spent Thanksgiving weekend with their Dad this year. They seemed to have a great time. Diesel got his first official haircut from his Uncle Shane, who is an amazing hair stylist if anybody is in the market!!! (He has even done Carrie Underwood's hair!) Only the best for my babies!! He looks like such a big boy with his trim.

I got to spend Thanksgiving in St. George with my siblings and my parents. It was a great, relaxing time! I am so thankful for such an amazing family, for their support and example!!!

The Twins went to Nursery for the first time today!

They seemed to have a blast! When I set Diesel down he headed straight for the toys and never looked back. Elle was escorted over to the slide and she was sold. What a milestone! The best part was the post-nursery reunion. Diesel was with Grandma and could not stop jabbering. He was telling her all about his fun time. Elle sort of looked like she may have given them a run for their money, but the leaders claimed that they both did great! A serious highlight of my week!

The kids had a blast on Halloween! They experienced suckers and trick-or-treating for the first time. You will be happy to know they loved both experiences, but I am pretty sure that a sucker trumps trick-or-treating at this point. Kasey came with us and we took the kids out with their cousins and aunt and uncle, along with Shelli, Regan and Jaedin. Everything went so smooth, and most importantly all of the kids had a ball! Brooklyn rarely left Elle's side, and carried her up to many of the doors. The doors she didn't take her up to, she made sure to get candy for Elle and Diesel. It was so much fun to watch. She is more like a big sister or an aunt to the twins. My favorite picture is the one where Harrison looks like he is holding a 200 lb weight. Are these cute kids, or what?

Also, Harrison let us all know that if Barack Obama is elected president he will allow for school to get out early. I know this information would have been nice before the late night prior to election day. I hope the word gets out before you all hit the polls in the morning!

Fall pears . . .

The twins have a new love . . . pears. Not canned pears, or sliced pears, but whole pears. We received some fresh pears from a neighbor, and Grandpa was nice enough to share his with them on Saturday. Since then, Elle points and yells for pears. I have to hide them during meal time or she won't eat anything else. I got some fun pics of them eating their pears. It is hilarious to watch these little hands and mouths with the big fruit.

I stumbled upon the blog of Jonathan and Stephanie Waite and family tonight. They lost their sweet daughter, Camille in June. She drowned in their backyard spa. She was born one month before the twins. Stephanie has documented their journey as well as her other thoughts and feelings. It is a wonderful and inspiring site, but also brings tears to my eyes from the deepest parts of my soul. I cannot imagine the grief and loneliness involved in losing a child. I have grieved the loss of two unborn babies, and I am currently grieving the loss, emotional and spiritual, of my husband and best friend. However, the thought of losing one of these sweet children who I can hardly wait to see in the morning or when they return from time spent with their dad, is unbearable. My heart and prayers go out to the Waite family and the many other families mourning the loss of a child, whether it be a spiritual death or a physical death. I have to include a couple of sentences taken from Stephanie's blog. I have had many conversations with my sweet sister-in-law, Lisa about the different relationship and bonding a mother has with her children, and Stephanie was able to articulate this so well.

"Babies are so much a part of their mothers. Their identity is indelibly linked to their mother. We were one once and even after birth my food was her food." -Stephanie Waite

I hope each of you will take an extra moment to hug your children, tell them you love them, and embrace the juice and milk stains, the stinky diapers, the crying, the food all over the kitchen floor, the exhaustion, and the peace that comes with being a mother! Elle and Diesel, I love you forever! You are my angels!

Did I mention I have completed my first week of fall semester at the University of Utah? I am officially a student again and as of week one I'm pretty psyched about the idea of it. Not super psyched about the workload that 12 hours produces. Let's face it though, I will be so smart! Thanks to my amazing parents for helping out with the kids while I am preparing for my future! Hello friends and family! I feel like I have a lot to catch up on. First and foremost, we have had lots of fun visitors at our house. We had one of my best friends in the world visit with her son. We had talked about how fun it would be to raise our children together quite some time before either of us had our babies. So it was amazing to get the kids together! Unfortunately the twins got really sick, so we were unable to show them around SLC, and we tried to keep the kids from sharing sippy cups, or other slobbery toys. It made for some stressful times, but Ruth Anne and Kai were troopers, an it was still absolutely amazing to have them here. The kids absolutely adored spending time together. Diesel was excited most of the time, even though he was really sick. We have some pics of Kai on our refrigerator and the kids point to them and we talk about Kai often!

A little background: Ruth Anne and I worked in the same offices in Eugene, OR. She and I became instant friends as we both struggled with infertility and saw the same doctor in Eugene. She and Joe adopted their amazing, beautiful Kai, who was born in Korea only about three months before the twins were born. She has been such a support to me through everything since I have met her. Ruth Anne is honest, sincere, kind, integral, funny, and such a great friend. Thanks, Ruth Anne for braving the flight from Eugene to SLC with an 18 month old! I really enjoyed seeing you and appreciate that things are as though we have seen each other only a week ago. You are truly one of my best friends!!! I can't wait to see you and Kai again in person!! What a blessing good friends are in our lives!

We also had the opportunity to have my sister, Lindsay and her fiancee Bob stay with us last weekend, and again this weekend. They are moving to Guam in one week. I can't believe it. What a fun and adventurous experience for them. They will be getting married the end of the November in Hawaii . . . still wish I could be there guys! Lindsay has been living in St. George, so we don't see each other tons, but I am still feeling sad about her moving so far away. I am going to miss you like crazy, Linds. I have really enjoyed spending time with you, and especially experiencing the interaction between you and the babies. They are going to miss their Aunt Linds, too! Everyone should know how amazing my sister is! She is someone who is not afraid to let you know what's up. Lindsay would do anything for you. She is loyal and kind. I love that Lindsay is my sister. She is smart, and beautiful, and hilarious. She is not afraid to have a good time, but is knows when to be serious. I look up to you a lot, Lindsay. You will continue to do amazing things in your life, I know that. You are one of the strongest women I know, and I love that about you! Thank you for always taking care of me! You teach me a lot and are a good example to me! I love you Lindsay! (You are lucky, I am working on my laptop and I don't have a picture to add. I'll get you later!)

Amazing Mom!!!

Tonight my mom and I sat outside for about an hour. We chatted and watched the amazing moon. The nights are getting cooler and we have had a few beautiful nights in a row; you know stars, moon, Mars, the whole deal. Anyway, I thought I should share my amazing Mom with all of you! These are some of the reasons why my mom is my best friend, and lets face it, the greatest mother out there. . .

She is kind, nice to people even if she really doesn't want to be. (Not to be mistaken with the fact that she will let you know how she feels.)

She is honest and up front.

Encouraging, but not enabling.

She has confidence in her children, which is so empowering!

My mom is selfless. She serves others without expectations. She gives without strings attached.

She supports and encourages the underdog.

She has taught us to love everyone, no matter what!

She works hard, and has taught her children to do the same.

She is humble. She still reminds me to be nice, and encourages me to apologize when I am in the wrong.

She is the most amazing grandmother around. Her grandkids love her. She plays games and is so tender and kind with them.

I know that my my mom would do anything for us!

You are amazing, Mom! I love you and appreciate all that you do for me and the twins! We are so blessed to be close to you. I don't know where I would be without you as my mother, and my best friend! You have taught me that I can be strong and survive, and I will always appreciate that! I am so grateful that my kids will have your influence as well! Thank you for always being my personal cheerleader! I love you!

After an emotional and frustrating Sunday and Monday, I had two fun visitors on Tuesday. They brought me some of these . . .

So, my sweet sis-in-law, Beka, called and brought me a sandwich and a cookie from Paradise Bakery. (One of my favs!) While we were eating and visiting I received a knock on my door from one of my dearest friends, Loni. She came bearing flowers and a bag of chippers, from non other than Paradise Bakery! They both know me well! As I was thinking about sharing these thoughtful gestures with you, and thinking about needing to get thank you cards out, I came up with an idea. I am going to spotlight the people who have been so amazing and supportive to me over the last six months and throughout my life. We all have trials, but I know I wouldn't have made it without my family and friends, so thank you all!!!! Thank you Loni and Beka! Stay tuned for my first spotlight!!!!

I thought I better lighten things up here a bit! How cute are these kids? We spent last weekend in St. George and the kids loved their first swim in a real pool!!!! E & D both loved jumping off the side to Grandma Read. They would sit on the side and then flop forward. It was so cute! They loved splashing and riding around with Grandma and Grandpa. I personally think Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed it as much as the kids! We also installed swings in the backyard today, well Grandpa did. (Thanks, Dad!) The Twins LOVE them! I will save those pictures for another post! I am awaiting word on whether the U of U is going to give me Residency for tuition purposes, and tomorrow begins the one month countdown to a more educated Me! Yikes!

Moving On?

I know this is kind of a downer, but I am looking for some advice . . .

I have been thinking a lot about how to move on. How do you just let a relationship go that has been 15 years in the making? I don't know how to deal with the idea that the person I loved with all of my heart and soul never felt the same way about me. That our children were not brought into a family where their Dad loved their Mom. I don't want to sound whiney or needy, but I am really struggling with what moving on really means and how to get there. I have such anger and disgust for the person I trusted and cared for the most in my life. Sorry is just not good enough in a situation like this, yet I want to hear sorry and feel like it is sincere. So, my question to you guys is how do I do this? How do I move on when I don't have the option of cutting all ties. When I miss the relationship that didn't actually exist? How do you deal with the loss of a best friend? How do I accept the reality that I was merely a tool? I totally get that his choices are not about me, but I have never had anyone in my life help me feel worthless until now. I never thought I would be the person who would allow this, but yet it feels so out of my control at times.

On a more important note, how do I feel good about my children spending time with people I don't trust or even like right now? Someone whose behavior has not been consistent with love and concern. How do I let go? I would love to hear ANY thoughts on this . . . Come on Social Worker friends, speak up!

How much fun is summer? We had a delightful BBQ on Thursday night and enjoyed the babies' birthday present from their cousins Harry and Brooklyn. They loved playing in the pool! Elle is our little fish and dare devil, she tried to crawl in on her own. Diesel is much more cautious, but he took his time and slowly inched into the water. Once he got in, he had a ball. They splashed and squealed! You can see just how tired they were after! So, some amazing accomplishments from amazing babies over the last little bit . . . .

They are both saying, "Uh-Oh" anytime something is dropped, falls, or is thrown.

Elle is so close to her first step . . . standing for minutes at a time.

Maui, Hawaii

So, I just returned from Maui this morning. The trip was originally planned for our "family." Since that term has been re-defined, I then planned on taking the babies and going with a family member to help. I then decided (with the help of others) that I needed a big break from my present life circumstances and that the babies would get to spend an entire week with Grandma and Grandpa Read. The original partner in crime bombed out on me, so I got to take one of my best friends (thanks again Loni)! We had a blast. We met up with my brother, Rene and his family, their friends Shelli, Shaunna & Clair and Connor. All of which are amazing people! We truly had a blast! It was a week of relaxation, great friends, golf, sun, laughter, and of course amazing food! This was my first visit to Hawaii and it is definitely all it is cracked up to be! We attempted the Road to Hana, but got bored and so returned. Can I tell you that I slept through an entire night without having to worry about anything but my sleep?! It was truly paradise! I didn't take as many photos as I should have, but will hopefully receive pics from everyone else . . . I'll post them when they arrive!

Grandma Read taught the Twins their first piano lesson today. What can I say? My children are brilliant!!! We sat Elle down at the piano first and she proudly pounded away. We sat Diesel down for their duet and it was an amazing musical masterpiece! By the way, if anyone is looking for a decent used piano, let me know. This one is for sale! Inexpensive, especially if we like you! (We are moving on to much nicer pianos for these whiz kids!)

I cannot believe all that has transpired over the last 12 months. The best part of this last year was the arrival of our Twins, Elle and Diesel Budd, on May 15, 2007. Happy Birthday, Babies!!!!! They are thriving and I cannot get over how amazing they are! Can I tell you what an unbelievable blessing it has been to have twins? They rely on each other already, and know that if the other is around everything is "okay!" (I think I could use my own twin right about now!) They received a new wagon from their Dad and I for their Birthday, and they are loving it! We go up and down the driveway, and today ventured out into the neighborhood! They face each other in the wagon and talk back and forth to each other. They also look so proud to be "big." We are celebrating with everyone tomorrow, doing the whole cake thing, and partying! I will post pics!

Well, we are settling into our new home in SLC. What a whirlwind the last month has been. I have an extremely long list of thank you notes that I need to send, and you will receive yours! grandmas, teeth, and sitting up . . .

The babies are both sitting up on their own! They are still a little wobbly, but doing so well! They have also truly discovered Elmo and Sesame Street, but mostly Elmo! When things get crazy, which happens more than once a day, we turn on Sesame Street or Elmo in Grouchland, and we have about 5-10 minutes of tranquility! The pictures of Elle sitting up are during Elmo time. We are still waiting for Elle's teeth to break through, a big bummer for her. She is also still spitting up a lot, so she had an upper GI done this week and are waiting to hear back from a pediatric surgeon to see if she will need any extensive procedure done, until then she will start on a stronger antacid to help. We got to have both Grandmas come and visit, which is so great for all of us! The babies love it, and I truly appreciate and enjoy the help and adult interaction. Kasey and I have the most amazing Moms! Thank you both for coming out! Elle is scooting all over the place. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks, but then resumes the army crawling when it is time to get moving. Diesel is expressing frustration about not being mobile yet. He is definitely ready, and getting close to scooting. He rocks forward and grunts, which is sad, but so cute! We are looking forward to getting Kasey's parents here in a couple of weeks, which will be a total blast! We will be traveling to Salt Lake a couple of times this spring! I can hardly wait! I am planning on flying a couple of times alone with the babies, I'm a little nervous! Enjoy some fun photos of the last few weeks . . .

Today the twins had physical therapy. We have a PT come to the house once a week to work with the babes. The goal is to help them catch up to their chronological age. Let me just say all three of us love it! Kara is amazing! The twins are so excited when she arrives and enjoy every second of their play time together. I have attached some fun pictures of one of Kara's visits. Both Elle and Diesel have made huge strides since Kara has been visiting. Thank you Kara!! We appreciate you more than you know!!!

I keep getting "tagged" to post info about myself , so here's my version . . .

With all of the election stuff going on I thought I should let you know that the most involved in politics I get is listening to the Beastie Boys. Not that I agree with all of their political views, just love it! (I have added a sample in the playlist.) The Beastie Boys happens to be the best concert I have ever attended, as well. However, they are not necessarily my favorite band. Which leads me to the next random bit of info.
I don't have a favorite band or group. I love punk rock music as well as old alternative music, and anything cool. (Cool does not usually include country music, although Kasey feels that I walk a fine line with enjoying the likes of the Indigo Girls and James Taylor.) I have learned to like a lot of the rap that Kasey listens to, but right now my ipod favorites are the Descendents, Oingo Boingo, Kate Nash, the Fratellis, The Old 97's, Bad Religion, and The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones.
I love musicals and old Disney movies. Rent is one of my faves right now, and I love Pete's Dragon!
I hate when people chomp on their ice, especially in movie theaters. I'm not sure if you don't think we can hear it or what, but please stop! It is equally as obnoxious as answering your phone during a movie!!
I love to laugh! I especially love to laugh with my brother, David! For some reason we can find the most random things funny!! This can be very annoying to those around, but that makes it even funnier!
I have lots of tattoos. My right arm is practically quarter sleeved, I have a Gorilla Biscuits tattoo on my back, and a CTR shield on my back. I thought that tattooing a MOM and DAD banner would help ease the blow when my parents found out . . . for the record, it didn't work.
The most important things in my life are my husband and babies. I could live without a nice house and nice cars, and I despise when people cannot.
You know the line in the movie Tommy Boy, when Chris Farley says that a lot of people go to school for 7 years, and David Spade's reply is, "Yeah, they're called doctors." Well, that would be me. I would like to finish someday, and get a Master's in Social Work.

First of all . . . Could this boy be any cuter? He has now sprouted two teeth!! He is so adorable! We have had a rough few days with a fussy sister, but today seemed better. I will be glad when her tooth or teeth break through and we can get the old Elle Belle back. We received a package yesterday from Ruth Anne in Eugene with some great shoes and clothes for the babies, but the highlight for the twins was the Ducky Tub!!! We had a good 10 minutes of fun with it (that is actually a long time for those of you without infants)! Thanks Ruth Anne and Kai!!! The babies have discovered how much fun it is to have a sibling . . . they are learning how to interact. They spend time talking to each other, and giggling back and forth at each other. I hope to catch this on video at some point, but it makes the difficult days worth it! Kasey has been in Phoenix this week. Working, not Super Bowling it. We can't wait to see him tomorrow! When he calls we put him on speaker phone and he talks to the babies. They love it. They occasionally talk back, but mostly just stare and reach for the phone. They have known their Dad's voice from day one! When they were in the NICU Kasey would speak and little 2 lb Elle would turn her head towards his voice! Fun memories from an intense time. We have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks. We have Grandma Baker coming to visit this month, and then both Grandma and Grandpa Baker in March! We can't wait!!!! We might also get the Watsons and Grandma Read in the next couple of months. Can I just say, I LOVE VISITORS! RSV season can be kind of a drag, as per doctor's suggestion we aren't spending much time in public, including church. My point is that the calendar is filling up for Feb/March so get your visiting requests in asap! Can't wait to see ya'll!!!

All is well here! I've decided that having twins is nuts, and I absolutely adore it!!!! Elle is getting closer and closer to crawling. She really wants to get moving and just needs to figure out how to get herself on her knees. She has also started eating cereal! Diesel is not interested at all in eating solids. He dry heaves and gags when I give him cereal, sad, but so funny! He loves his bottle! He is almost sitting up on his own, and loves to stand up (with help of course)! He is also not super interested in crawling. He wants to get moving, but not real concerned about actually moving. I love the two different personalities! They are such good babies!

We were so lucky to have Betsy with us this last week! Kasey had a long trip, and so Betsy flew in to help!! Let me just say that WE LOVE AUNT BETSY!!! It was so nice to have someone to hang with, not to mention all of the help with the Twins! We experienced Fat Burger for the first time while she was here, and attempted to wander the outlets. We made it down one corridor before the babies had enough of the cold. I will get some of the pics I took with Bets posted later.

The biggest news is that while Betsy was here Kasey and I were able to go see a movie. It was major! We saw Juno, and if you haven't seen it, you must! We absolutely loved it, and the soundtrack is fun also! I added a couple of the songs to the blog playlist.

More big news is that we are going to Hawaii with Rene and Court this summer . . . Kasey and I have never been and we can hardly wait! We will be taking the babies, which will be fun! We got a smokin' deal on accomodations (thanks to Courtney), if anyone is interested email me and I'll tell you about it!

Well, we had a wonderful Holiday season and loved being back in SLC! I have to say that we are also very glad to be home in our own beds!! The babies had an amazing first Christmas and New Year! We were able to spend time with our loved ones! I did not take enough pictures, though. We got a video camera for Christmas and took some great video footage, but neglected the camera. I will attach those that I took!

Some of the highlights . . .

Elle discovered the excitement of getting attention from others. She also learned that making funny faces gets her that attention!

Diesel now has the strength to stand up, and learned how to rock. (Back and forth, not musically.)

Merry Christmas!!!

Elle & Diesel are seven months this week! We can't believe it! I was reflecting back on their traumatic entrance into this world and looking at pictures from the NICU, and I just can't express in words the gratitude I have for these little miracles. Looking back at the pictures is almost more devastating than the experience seemed at the time. I can't believe they were so small and so not ready to be born. It is hard to imagine the strength and fight these little spirits have in them! Could we be more blessed? I don't think so!

Anyway, they start physical therapy tomorrow. Diesel is almost rolling over and still jabbering like crazy! Elle is starting to scoot a little, and gets mad at any toy that she is unable to get to her mouth. We have got two completely different personalities, and it is a blast to watch them learn and explore different things!

Today was such a beautiful day that we went to the Outlets and wandered around. The babies seemed to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine! They always enjoy the attention and are all smiles for anyone who will talk to them. Tomorrow they get to attend their first Christmas party, so exciting! I think we have stuff everyday this week from physical therapy to doctor appointments, to Synagis shots. A lot to get done before Holiday travels! I will be glad when we have arrived safely in SLC and are enjoying our family and friends! It will be bananas, and I can't wait!!! Well, Happy Holidays! I look forward to sharing pics from the Twins' first Christmas and New Year!!!

Laurie brought to my attention that we need to post about how things are here in Denver . . . We are loving it! We really love our new home and neighborhood. We have plenty of room, which we really appreciate with the equipment involved in having two babies! In the kitchen we actually have an empty cupboard! A tender mercy in my opinion! We have attended our ward only a handful of times, but love it so far! I was having some flashbacks of our Greenacres Ward Christmas party when the RS Counselor explained that we have a ward tradition of sharing talents on the Sunday before Christmas (Flashbacks to long solos, story time, and sign language). They take up the third hour with the talent show. I have to admit I am so bummed we are going to miss this! I would guess it will be even more telling than a Fast & Testimony meeting. For instance, one year a guy explained that his talent was knowing people who have great talents, so he brought his assistant in who made monkey bread for everyone and passed it around. I love it!!! Everyone has been so warm and excited to welcome us into our new ward family. We have a large ward of about 500 people, and apparently the majority are active. Did I mention we have four sets of twins in our ward now. We have only met two of the other three. The first thing the parents of twins all say to us is that it will get easier. We appreciate the empathy and encouragement! We live about ten minutes from the chapel, so not bad. The weather here is pretty awesome! We had a pretty good snow storm last night through today. We got about 7 inches. I went out and used our snowblower on the driveway while the babies took a nap! I thought it was a blast! The great thing about Denver is that you get 7 inches of snow, and then the sun comes out and finishes shoveling the driveway for you! I don't miss the gray from September to June, it is amazing to have the sunshine! We are living in Castle Rock, which is about 30 miles southeast of Metro Denver. We are almost in the foothills of the Rockies and so we usually get a little more snow than DEN. Our city is pretty small, but we have everything close by! One thing that surprised me about the area is how dry it is here. My hands are constantly cracking, and we have to run a humidifier for the babies. Who knew? I discovered the most wonderful service at our grocery store. I can grocery shop online and they will deliver my groceries for a $10.00 fee. This has been the highlight of my week! I don't have to race through the store with the babies, or worry about the curiosity other shoppers seem to act on with regards to the Twins. People love to stick their faces in the stroller. I have even had people pull blankets off of the stroller and take a gander. Amazing! Anyway, thrilled about grocery delivery service! Kasey is absolutely loving it here. He is on an indoor soccer team, an indoor football team, and then of course the most dangerous of all . . . basketball at the church! Kasey is liking his job. It keeps him really busy and he is traveling once or twice a month, usually short trips. He works really hard and is still able to be the best husband and father you could imagine! Elle is rolling all over! She has also learned to squeal and fluctuate her voice, it is hilarious! The Twins Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa R were high chairs! They are amazing! Diesel loves to sit and watch me make their bottles! We are so excited to have 4 stockings this year! I can't believe our family doubled in size this year! Finally . . . this is how things look at our house by the end of the day! Exhausting, isn't it?

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with my parents in town! We are already missing them like crazy and counting down the days until we leave for Christmas. My Mom made an amazing feast for Thanksgiving Day . . . thanks Mom and Dad! Kasey and I went to the midnight madness sales at the factory outlets here in Castle Rock . . . we were there from midnight until 4 a.m. Lots of good deals! Two things I am thankful for today . . . 1. Craig's List 2. Exersaucers found on Craig's List I think they are going to be a hit!!!

Elle has discovered her feet!!! So much fun! . . . and yes I do know about the Bumbo recall, she is sitting on the floor. The babies are doing well! Their symptoms have been minimal at this point, and the doctor doesn't anticipate complications! Hooray! Elle has fluid in her ear and Diesel has a little wheezing, but their resp rates have decreased! Only 2 1/2 days until Grandma and Grandpa get here!!!

I seem to be experiencing exhaustion at a whole new level. We are mostly unpacked and now just trying to do a little decorating, which shouldn't be stressful, but I can't wait to have everything off the floor! We have pictures and shelves and knick-knacks strung all over. We are slowly getting there though! Today I took the kids into their pediatrician because I was concerned about Diesel's stuffy nose, which is pretty chronic, but has seemed to have gotten worse the last two days. He has also developed a minor cough. Well, I wanted to be proactive and nip it in the rear before it moved to his ears or got any worse. Come to find out the little sweetheart has RSV . . . yeah, that's right RSV! So far so good, the only reason they caught it is that his respiratory rate was slightly elevated today, which is one of the first symptoms. Our wonderfully on the ball physician decided to do and RSV wash, and it came back "ever so slightly positive," according to the nurse. Well, this does nothing but give us information, as there is no treatment for RSV, unless it gets worse and then the symptoms are treated with breathing treatments. The other lovely bit of information is that it is HIGHLY contagious, which means we can almost count on Elle contracting it as well. Diesel does not seem to be bothered by his symptoms at this point, so that is a good sign! Aside from that all is well in Colorado. The weather has been pretty wonderful, it is sunny a lot! We are looking forward to having my parents here for Thanksgiving, in fact we can hardly wait!!! We were able to see Kasey's parents on Saturday afternoon. They had a long layover in Denver and we got to hang out with them at the airport! It was awesome to see Heidi and Reed! They are so amazing!!!! I will post again soon with some updated photos . . .

The Twins had their first photo shoot the other day . . . they were so pleasant all morning and the minute we arrived at the studio, they lost it. Cried nearly the entire three hours we spent there (that's right I said three hours). We were able to get minimal shots, and we were only able to get Elle in her Blessing dress when she finally crashed. It was quite an ordeal . . . it seemed torturous to the babes . . . The kids are doing well! They are getting so big and so interactive! They have both discovered their fists, and Diesel spends a lot of time watching his and eating it! They are both starting to "talk," and laugh out loud! Elle bats her eyes at times, and really knows how to charm! They are just so much fun! We are going to do the final walk through of our house in Denver this next week, and will be heading to Denver for our final move in a little more than a week . . . I can't believe how the time has flown since being here in SLC . . . I will attach a picture of the house, also!! Thanks for stopping in!

Well . . . we have an official closing date. We will be in Denver on October 15 and closing the next day! I can't believe we are halfway through our stay here in SLC . . . I have attached some of the highlights so far!

First of all, yesterday I left a paper bag on the floor that had contained a muffin, when I returned to our bedroom I found Mazzi just like this . . . I found an awesome double jogging stroller on Craig's List this week, and am thrilled with our purchase! My Mom and I took it for a short test-walk on Monday night and today was the first official walk (I even jogged twice for about 1 minute). It is going to be a long road back to where I was pre-pregnancy . . . anyway . . . the babies loved the walk! And finally . . . the Amazing Grandpa Baker!

We finally got some pics of Elle smiling . . . photography is not a strength of mine! The babes saw the doctor today and Diesel is now 13lb 2oz and Elle is 9lb 12oz. Growing and doing well!!! I think they are getting their first cold, not too fun, especially since I am the one who has given it to them! Potentially, a huge bummer!

First and foremost . . . Congrats to Ruth Anne and Joe! Ruth Anne is one of my best friends, and they received the referral for their baby boy!! His name is Malakai Joseph McCormack, born on Feb 12, and the pictures are just beautiful!!!! We are so happy for you guys!!! You can check out their blog at seoulbaby.blogspot.com they will try and post pictures soon . . . Well, this is our last week in Spokane. I can't believe it! We have packers come on Tuesday and the movers come on Wednesday, which is the day that me and the twins fly to SLC. Luckily we have Grandma Read coming up to help me fly back with the babes! I also have had the most amazing helper for these last few weeks! We call her "The Amazing Madison"! She is amazing with the babies, and they just love her!!! Thanks to Maddy! I just took these pictures of the babes . . . I know I should be packing or something productive. Instead I am taking pictures, checking email, and scrapbooking! Priorities! One last thing . . . Our friend Stacy came to visit us last week, and brought these for the babies . . . their own cowboy boots and hats, the real thing! She says that every child should have a pair of cowboy boots . . . we can't help but agree, especially after seeing how cute these are!!! Thanks, Julians! Sorry, no new pictures of the twins today, but we went to the doctor and Elle is now weighing in at 8lb 2oz, and Diesel is a whopping 11lbs! They are just too fun! We are relieved to know that Elle is growing as she should, which is an average of 1oz per day! They are champions!!! We are so looking forward to getting to SLC! Our amazing realtor in Denver sent us some pictures of our new house. (If anyone needs a Denver realtor let us know, she is the best!) This is the first we have seen it. The inside is not yet sheet rocked, so no use in attaching those pics. I am really excited about it! It looks wonderful! The second picture is the view from the back of the house!

Diesel's first Nike basketball shoes now fit him! Kasey is so excited! He bought them on one of his Denver trips, and has been so anxious for him to be able to wear them . . . We did an at home weigh in of Diesel tonight, he weighed in at 10 1/2 pounds. I can't believe that my due date was July 29th, just last week. I didn't weigh Elle, I just didn't have the heart to disturb either of them . . . Well, we have officially sold our home in Spokane. We will be closing on the 24th of August. Myself and the babies will be flying to Salt Lake on August 23 and Kasey will be driving with the dog. We get to stay in SLC until our home in Denver is complete. Our estimated close date is October 3rd. I can't wait to see it! Kasey has done all of the work in finding us a home, and fortunately for us it is a buyers market there . . . hopefully we won't have to turn around and sell again in a year. We are so excited to be able to spend a month in SLC, it will be so nice to be around family. Also, we will be blessing the twins on September 2. So exciting!

Grandma Baker is here until Wednesday, and we are so excited!!!! She is so much fun and such a help! The babies are both starting to interact more and more each day. They are also beginning to smile in response to us, which is so exciting! Also, Dad is home!!!!! Back to the grind . . .

Thanks to Matt and Loni for the adorable matching monkey outfits!!! They are too cute! I never thought I would be dressing the babes alike . . . but it is really a lot of fun! I am enjoying having two different personalities developing, but also finding similarities in the twins. Did I mention two baths every night? I have had my amazing Mom here for the last two weeks, and sadly she heads home on Friday. I wish I could keep her here forever . . . as you can see she has been working hard! Finally, the babies are doing amazing! They had their final ROP (retinopathy) eye exam today, and their eyes have matured! They will not need another of these invasive exams, which is a huge relief! Grandma and I are going to be adventurous tomorrow and go to the mall . . . wish us luck! Other good news . . . we sold our house in Spokane and will be moving the last week of August. We will get to spend about a month in SLC where we will bless the babies, then off to Denver! Also, we get Grandma Baker on Friday! It will be hard to have my Mom go home, but will be wonderful to have Kasey back home and Grandma Baker here to visit! We have amazing Moms!!!! Good night!

We had a difficult day yesterday . . . we had to put our sweet little Chewy dog down. He had a sudden case of pancreatitis that despite aggressive treatment worsened. We miss our little guy! Updates on the babes to come . . .

The twins stayed awake and alert with lots of interacting for two whole hours tonight! So much fun! It makes up for the exhaustion. We are hoping such activity makes for longer sleep time during the night . . . I'm not holding my breath!

Grandma Read is here!

Grandma Read flew in on Friday and is staying for two weeks! We are so excited! She has been loving the twins and really helping out! What a relief! Not only do we get Grandma Read for a couple of weeks, but then we get Grandma Baker for a week after that! I can't tell you how thrilled we are, and how much we love and appreciate our parents! The twins seem to be loving their grandma!

Today we took pictures of the babes together for the first time! It was amazing . . . I didn't realize that they had locked arms until I looked back at the photos. I have to make this short . . . Diesel is not happy and we have to get everything ready to go tonight for a 7:45 a.m. eye doctor appointment for the twins. That should be fun.

The twins have been home now one week! The dogs are very curious about their new family members! So far so good. They stick pretty close by when the babies are crying!

Yesterday the babies had their first doctor appointment with their pediatrician. They had an exam and measurements done, and boy have they grown!!!! Diesel is now weighing in at 7lb 7.5oz and 20.5 inches long! Elle is now 5lb 12oz and 18.25 inches long! They are getting so big, and I can't imagine still carrying them! Today was my projected due date (40 weeks is not until July 29). It was also their first outing . . . very exciting for Mom and Dad! They seemed to love the car ride, and don't mind their car seats, once they are strapped in and settled.

So, we have made it through the first three nights. These pictures give you an idea of what the first full day was like . . . I was on my way to bed after "picking up" and this was what was left! Wow! We have gone through 1.5 packages of diapers, 1.5 cans of formula, 4 loads of baby laundry, 46 bottles, and itt is completely worth it! We are loving these babies! The pictures of the babies were taken last night . . . Diesel was discovering Elle by touching her face and just staring at her. Four hours later when I got up with Diesel, Elle's hand was under Diesel's arm. (It was too late, and I was too tired for that photo op.) As far as personalities go, Diesel does seem to be a little more mellow than Elle. However, Elle can be more patient at times. Well, enjoy the pictures. All is well . . . I think.
